We are operating the cross country LPG pipeline. We have Filter , pumps. During maintenance of filter, we isolate the filter and flare LPG, to empty the filter.
I came to know that we can flush the filter with the high pr. water. LPG can be transfered to the process piping, then isolate the filter with water inside.we can extract the water from filter, then do cleaning.
Is it safe...?

I want to know the details about this flushing job.
In refineries, people use this process...Do help me .

Why don't you have dual filters and block valves???

Hi BigInch,

We have 2 filters(1+1)A & B, If filter-A DP is high, then take the filter-B in line.Isolate filter-A, and empty the LPG(@ 20 Kg/cm2, 1.5 MT qty) by flaring, thru blowdown line.
I need a solution to extract this LPG from filter.
Now my doubt is, can we push this LPG by high pr. water into the process line?
I hope now u got my point...!!!!!!!

take the lpg to the fuel system. You could pump water into the vessel and then have a tank to draw off the water. By the time you buy all the connections and seperation equipment as compared to getting fuel back from the lpg, you'll never pay for the system, well unless you are flushing the filters daily.
