Hi Gents;
any one can show me how to determine the mach number is a section of pipe in Aspen hysys?

many thanks!

normally , to reduce computation time, a software doesn't calculate a property except where strictly required,
to evaluate mach number you need to calculate the local fluid velocity and the speed of sound,
since , for a pipe, you know mass flow and the area calculate density (or specific volume) at local T, P then you can calculate the local fluid velocity,
for the speed of sound I suggest to use an accurate model, for hydrocarbons, with PRODE Properties, I prefer GERG 2008 or the Modified BWR , these models give accurate results for both volume and caloric properties, while with a common EOS or the ideal model you may observe large deviations,
once you know the local fluid velocity and speed of sound
mach number = fluid velocity / speed of sound
maybe you can calculate these values with the calculator available in Aspen, following a procedure similar to that I adopt with PRODE
