Hello,

During an investigation, I came across a Macombie steel joist with the designation of 8-24P. It is 24 inches deep with 5/8" diagonal bar and a 5" wide bottom chord. Can anyone determine the load rating on this vintage 1961-63 joist? Thanks!

Perhaps the manufacturer is Macomber? Search the site - there are a number of posts.

The Macomber joists I have seen have a bit different bottom chords than your picures seem to show, but I am sure there is some variation. Here is a catalogue I have from 1968 (Maybe from slideruleera, do not remember). It might be worth filling out the SJI Joist investigation form and contacting them for information. I have had some luck with that in the past.
