Manufacturing and selling a production vehicle? 3

What hoops would i have to jump through to be able to sell my own designed and built vehicles in the United States? Gov't regulations? testing? ect.....

Who would i need to go through or get approval by?

I understand the easiest way to sell cars is by selling them as a kit car because you can avoid alot of red tape, have them sign a paper saying your not liable. But i would like to sell them as a manufactured consumer product.

It's been done numerous times, and once or twice it's even been done successfully: Panoz cars, for example, but it certainly helps to have the resources of a major pharmaceuticals company behind you!

Yes, i know his sucess was mainly inpart to his father throwing gobs of money at the projects. That always does help!!!!!
