Hello all,

We typically call for the column, base plate, and anchors to be coated with mastic when below grade for corrosion protection. Does anyone know of a good product for this type of application? We generally just leave it up to the contractor, but I am being asked to specify a specific mastic. Any suggestions?

D.S. Brown has a spray on membrane called Deckguard. Although it's a concrete deck product railroads use it to waterproof ballast plates on thru girder bridges. I know another product but the name escapes me at the moment. When I get home I'll find it. It's a similar product used on railroad bridges.

The other product I mentioned is Eliminator HM by Stirling Lloyd.

Avoid tar modified epoxies that can be carcinogenic.
