Hi all, I have a project going through at the moment where we are supplying our equipment on a base frame with the manufacture in accordance with EN 1090 Execution Class 2. The frame is currently being fabricated and the current material selection has been steels according to EN10025 S355 J2. The skid base frame is to be installed outside on a concrete pad.

The minimum ambient temperature of the package has been defined to be -21.8°C. Would the selection of S355 J2 (i.e. charpy testing at -20°C be acceptable) or are there any EN standard clauses that would call for an additional charpy impact test of the steels at the lower -21.8°C design ambient condition?

In reality it's not going to be anywhere near -20°C on install and there wouldn't be any unexpected loads once bolted into place on the concrete pad.
