I saw on the internet a webpage explaining how to extrude every single pixel of a 2d image according to their luminance/chrominance value.

The result is a 3D image with various levels.

Does someone know how to find such a link?

Or does someone have an idea on how to do that?

Thanks in advance

This is a job for the "Image Processing" extension pack. You may already have access to this - it came as part of our corporate multi-user licence, but I don't know if it is included in stand-alone single licences etc.

With the Image Processing extension pack:

1. Copy and paste your image into a worksheet.

2. Right click on the image to edit its properties, and check the option for "Output Selected Matrix" - this allows you to assign a variable name to the image array (matrix), which you can then manipulate as for any other array.

3. Create a Surface Plot of your array, and format as you wish (colour contours, line contours, etc).

Please see attached - hope I haven't infringed on Eng-Tips copyright in using their logo as the example image!

Exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much jhardy! You've been so kind!

Just an information... I installed Image Processing Extension Pack but I can't still see the picture... what's wrong with mathcad?

I knew mathcad and aero do not go along well but... how to tell mathcad "I installed the pack, use it!"?

Sorry, I don't know why it is not working for you. My set-up is Mathcad 14 on Windows XP SP3 - I don't know how it will function under other operating systems, different graphics cards, etc.

Have you opened any of the examples that came with the Extension Pack, to make sure they work properly?

Otherwise, you might need to contact PTC for support. (In which case - Good Luck!)
