Max allowable pressure drop for control triple eccentric butterfly valves

Dear All,

I am writing to ask if anyone has any information about the maximum allowable pressure drop for the triple eccentricity butterfly valve that is used as a control valve. I have found that the information provided by the manufacturer, Belimo, indicates that it is 3 bars.

If anyone could provide any standards or references where this information is described, it would be greatly appreciated.

So you mean is there anything which states the maximum differential pressure across a butterfly valve is 3 bar?

This is vendor supplied data.

There is no "standard" I am aware of which states this, nor should there be.

Try another vendor if you want higher than 3 bar.

Do you mean for use as a throttling valve? In this case the allowable pressure drop depends on a variety of factors (eg. the outlet pressure). Cavitation is a particular concern.

Yes, you`re right, I want to use it as a throttling valve.
I am assuming that outlet pressure will be higher than 0 and even higher than vapour pressure of the liquid.
As per sizing software, in this case, sigma is Ok, there won`t be any flashing or cavitation. But I want to understand where is a limit for a delta P for a butterfly valve, when I should use another design, for example, segment ball valve.
The guys that teached me, told me that the max allowed delta P for butterfly valve shouldn`t be higher than 1-1.5 bar, but I want to clarify for myself is it true or not.
