Max & Min of Part

Hi,

We have modeled a component with tolerances.
By using the mean dimension the model get updated to the mean value.
Is it possible to update the model only for min and max dimension.
Do we need to purchase any new workbench for it?
If so, name of the workbench?

I've looked for this ability in V5 and have yet to find it. It seems if you are placing dimesions and tolerances on the model using the FT&A workbench, those are only driven dimensions and they do not drive the model. I have not found a way, other than changing each dimension manually to it's max/min, of getting the software to generate an item at the max/min. It seems you cannot apply a tolerance to the driving dimension in a model.

I'm wondering if you were a former Pro/E user. Pro had the ability to do this in an assembly by using the "Dim Bound" functinality.

There is a tolerance analysis workbench but I don't remember if that was a DS product or a 3rd party module

I believe Azrael is referring to the 3rd-party package called 3DCS which can be used as a CATIA workbench and works very well with FTA dimensions and tolerances.

I'm not sure if it will convert a CATIA model into the MAX or MIN representation.

The demo I saw they played with the max min values live in 3D so you could see how if affected the design.

But on the other hand, how much time do you have? you could use knowledgeware, with rules set triggers so the model will use the max or min values. The trigger could be a string parameter with MIN, NOM and MAX that triggers rules to use corresponding values.
