Hi,

Does anyone know what is a maximum torque that an average person can create by twisting let's say 2 inch dia. tube. I realize that "maximum" and "average" are relative terms, but even approximate number will be helpful.

Thank you,
Oxana

I had to get this number here a while back, but unforetunately I don't remember what it was. But I do know I got it out of Human Factors design handbook. If you still need it I can run the book down and find it for you. But it would be best if you see it so you understand exactly how the the torque is derived. Also check Mil spec 1472.

Hi,

Thank you for the reply. We eventually derived the number by experiment - asked different people to twist the tube while measuring the torque with a torque wrench (we had to put a little system together in order to take the measurements).
