Hello Guys,

I am wondering how to mesh the part in the picture. I want to have a precice mesh in the outer layer (size ~0.5), following a tet mesh to combine it to the inner part that should be a size of around ~2.5 like the global mesh. Since only the outer layer is involved in the contact, I want this to reduce the simulation time. Can somebody help me with that issue?
Thanks in advance.

Since this object looks easily swept, I'd suggest you try using hex mesh and establish a boundary layer from the outer cylindrical surface. Save tet meshing for complex geometry, especially when solve time or element count are a concern.

If you want a large difference in mesh densities without making transition regions, you can still use hex mesh but with each domain being a separate part connected with tie constraints to the other parts. Of course, the constraint should be possibly far from the areas of interest but it's a quick way to get such hex meshes.
