May 10, 2020 1 #4 FEA way Mechanical Nov 13, 2018 5,005 STL files come with surface mesh already (they are imported as orphan mesh). You should prepare the geometry in CAD software first and then import it to Abaqus using step or iges format. This way you will be able to mesh it properly. Upvote 0 Downvote
