Is it possible to mirror a part in an assembly in Catia?
if so can the part features be unique to the parent part?
also does the Parent and Mirror'ed part share the same plane?

A situation of similar nature has arose in SW and I was wondering if Catia V5R7 could do this or not and how much work it involved

any help is appreciated

Hello EssTee

For CATIA V4 the proper solution would be to create a new model, make a solid import with "SOLIDE+CREATE+IMPORT" and mirror it with "SOLIDE+TRANSFOR+MIRROR". The mirrored part is linked to the original part. (Look up the online help if you don't know the detailed procedure for import solid).

Depending on how you work, you can also create a mirrored part in a assembly (session) by using MODELS+MODIFY+DUPLICATE+SYMMETRY.

For CATIA V5 the solution is similar, but with other functions.
Both methods will take about 5 minutes.

I have no experience with SolidWorks.

Kind regards, Valentin
