Hi all. I'm working on a drawing where curves are showing through solids even with hidden lines set to invisible, and a check in the box "Include Model Curves". What else can I do to try and get the curves to be hidden when behind solids?

Using NX6. The approach above has worked for me in the past -- not sure why it's not this time.

Hi teookie!

Try moving all the sketches and curves into layers. Then do a "Layer settings" and turn off the layer where you put the sketches.

If still the curves shows, go to format > visible in view... > a reset to global all the views.

Are you working in Master Model mode (where the part your're creating is a Component in the Drawing file)?

Moving to layers won't work because I need to see the portions of curves that aren't behind solids.

Yes, I am working in master model mode. This is how I normally do things but it's never caused a problem before.

Is your solid a solid body or a sheet solid? HLR works differently depemding on the solid type.
What portion of your assembly is only curves? Shouldn't all bodies in your file be made of solids?

The solid bodies are actual solid bodies, not sheets or anything.

The reason I have curves at all is because I had to model some labels. The easiest way I've found to model labels is to extrude the label shape to .010 or whatever the label thickness is, then use the "Text" command to put my label text on the extrusion surface. This way I can put text on curved surfaces if I want. These label parts are then pulled into the next higher assy as components.

In my experience, the normal behavior of NX is to show curves through solids in drawing views UNLESS you tick the "include model curves" box in the hidden lines dialogue. For some reason, this is not working in this case.

If no one else has any better ideas I'm going to go back and extrude the text curves on my labels about .001 and then exclude the curves from the master model reference set. I expect that the extruded text will behave properly in the drawing views where the curves are not.

Hi teookie

Well using layers is not that bad. You can put that labels on a layer (i. e.: layer 41) then switch off layer 41, this will make the labels invisible in all the views). Now go to Visible in view... and select only the views where you want to show the labels (i. e.: TOP@8), then select layer 41 and click the "Visible" button and then OK. Now, you have to do the same for all views where you need to see that labels.

Also, you can try with right-click on the views that you want to not show the labels, then View dependent edit..., then "erase objects" and you will have to select the labels in order to erase them from that selected view. Now, you have to do the same with all the other views.

You can use any of these two methods. I hope these could help you
