I'm trying to model a guy-wired aluminum tower in SAP2000, but I can't find the right element to model a cable with. Is there a tension only element or equivalent in SAP 2000?

There is, there is a NNLINK called a hook, which will allow only tension. The only thing is it isn't the easiest thing to use.

i agree with the above answer. You must be very careful allthough when giving properties in the hook element. You'll find a very good example of a structure with hook element in in sap2000 training problems
