Hi,

I am attempting to model a simple cable-stayed bridge using microstran and I am wondering if anyone knows how to do this. I cannot find any features in microstran that allow for prestressing of members. If there is no specific feature in microstran for this, does anyone know of an effective round-about way of achieving the same results?

Thanks for your input.

Mitch,
take a look at the member distortions (DIST) loading option. you could also use the temp loading.

Thanks rowing,

That looks like what I need. If you can clarify for me, do you know if the input F1 for the DIST is supposed to be a displacement (m) or a force (kN)?

Never mind, I worked it out. It's a displacement, I just got thrown off by it being called F1.

Thanks again for your help rowing..
