Hi guys,
I currently ran across a situation where a 6" TBE nipple was cut in half and used as two 3" TOE nipples. Is this acceptable to ASME B31.1 code? Or is this considered modification of a fitting?
Also I have noticed that a threaded end nipple was welded into a socket welded elbow. I know that ASME B31.1 allows for seal welding as long as the threads are completely covered. However, I am not sure if this is considered a threaded joint, with only one of the mating components being threaded.
Any comments appreciated.
Thanks
