Hi Everyone,

I need help using Autodesk Robot structural analysis software to design multi- cell tank.

I would appreciate if you can explain the steps of using the software to design the concrete tank.

Thank You so much!

Let's see, software I've never heard of and helping someone who's never designed a tank? Absolutely nothing could go wrong, huh?
Nader, you went from asking questions on another engineer's disaster of a design to now doing this yourself, using software you're not familiar with? You need to have someone who is familar with this help you, step by step. It would be much better if you were to use the Bureau of Reclamation tables, rather than a black box.

I have found that the tank design engineer who used the software, has removed the 1.7 load factor required by ACI 350, that is why, he came up with the same reinforcement for higher water depth. I just wanted to learn how to use the software so I can compare the design using the tables with the software results. I always like to learn but that does not mean that I am willing to use the software to cause a design disaster or violate the code.

I'm not familiar with Robot. You'll have better luck with STAAD or SAP. Or using the tables from the Bureau of Reclamation or PCA. But besides I hate to see anyone run a computer program if they don't have a good feeling for the answer.
If you're adding a wall to an existing tank, you need to make sure the slab and wall can take the reactions.
