I have not drawn using autocad for a while so I am sure it is because my brain shut down

When I have created my 2-d drawings in layout space using solveiw, My veiws do not display the hidden lines as hidden after I perform the soldraw command. (I have the hidden line type loaded before I do this.) WHen I click on one of the lines that should be displayed as hidden, it says it is. When I print the drawing it comes out with the dashed hidden line.

Also the dimensions will at times not display in the 2d veiws until I print it or veiw it in the print preveiw.

As if this is not iritating enough. When I try to regen or redraw a drawing so that circles do not look like polygones or squares....not a thing happens. The cicles still look like crap.

Someone please tell me what I am doing wrong. IS my machine an oil leaking dogsled? The last Time I worked with autocad 2002 was on another machine at another company about a year and a half ago and I did not have these problems.

Thanks

Dave

I am not able to address all of your problems -- I'm only an observer to this forum and leave the advice to those who know it inside and out -- but, for the circle issued, type in "viewres" in the command line, confirm the yes <Y>, and see if the res is set to default at <100> -- if so, change the value, I use 2000, but you may need more or less (I would asume the higher the value, the more memory your drawing takes up) -- the do a regen to see if this helps -- if it doesn't, you may find that the computer resources is depleted and you need to delete a lot of your Internet temp files and cookies, etc... hope this helps...

Try SHADEMODE set to 2d rather than 3d. Also, look into settings under Tool>>Options>>System>>Properties.

Not a 3D user but have seen these mentioned before.

If things don't look right on the screen but print out OK then it might be an issue with your graphics card or graphics memory.

I had a similar problem with disappearing dimensions in Inventor.

The 2-d shade mode thing fixed the hidden lines being displayed incorrectly and it looks like it fixed the dissapearing dimensions. I still am having no luck fixing the regen problem. My machine has 256 meg of ram, and 37 gig of hard drive free.

Thanks for the help. I wish I would have found this site sooner

If you dimensions are disappering you might have something in front of them turned off (lightbulb). If that is the case, freeze it instead of turning it off, turning it off is exaclty what it means it means you just cant see it, but its still there. Freezing it takes it out of your viewport, and you dont have it there until you thaw it out. I found this out the hard way, also have you checked the hide box in your plot config box?
