Name Plate Elevation on Vertical Vessel

Hi all,

I have some clarification on elevation of Name plate on vertical vessel. The skirt height of the vertical vessel is 1200mm and i have fixed the elevation of name plate is 600mm from bottom of Tan Line. So, the total elevation of name plate is 1800mm from bottom of base ring. My vessel is U stamped. As per ASME SEC VIII DIV-I UG-119(e), The nameplate shall be located within 30 in. (760 mm) of the vessel. In that case, Can I locate the name plate on the Skirt of the vessel with in the code limit??? or can i exempt the code limit??

Question (1): May a nameplate, which is located within 30 in. of the vessel, be attached to a bracket which is welded to a structure, such as a skirt support, which is welded directly to the vessel?

Reply (1): Yes, provided all the requirements of UG-119(e) of Section VIII, Division 1 are met.

Question (2): Is it permissible under the requirements of UG-119(f) to include data on an additional nameplate, such as material and thickness, and mark it as "Duplicate"?

Reply (2): Yes.

Not an exact answer to your question but from what I know
a good practice for locating the nameplates is above the vessel manway.

Try to install the nameplate to make it easy to see it, without use of ladder or platform.
You can install at 1800mm as you say or in the skirt, near T.L.
