National Board transport vessel NH3 MC330

Hi every body,
i have vessel for internal weld repair it has National Board stamp on it NB 2190 built in 1962 head and shall material 1204-9 no S/N no TCRN number my question is according to the new ASME sec Viii Div 1 what would be the equalization material for repair.

In other words, you need to know comparable material to ensure proper selection of a WPS. I would contact the National Board and see if they have any information on the data report filed. If no information is available, you will need to type the material by in-situ testing or removal of a sample for PMI.

I have the Data report which shows head and shall material 1204-9 compare to these days i believe it is SA517F that's what they been using for repair and also it has same composition and tensile strength as 1204-9 but is dose not say any were SA517F is the same material as 1204-9 i just figured out my self i don't know am i right or wrong? please correct me if any bode have a clue.

In some cases, you will not find where a code or standard provides reference to an equivalent specification. In these cases, due technical diligence is required to ensure similar chemical, mechanical and welding properties for replacement material used in a repair. If you have done this, there should be no issues. Just make sure this information is tracked on a Form R1 for repair under the remarks section.
