Hi,
I'm trying to coat a thin carbon steel wire (1-2 mm) with a fluorescent coating that won't come off when it is submerged in water or mineral oil. Nothing, but nothing seems to stick to this carbon steel wire. I was told I need to apply a primer first, but I'm not sure which would be the best bet. I'm working with enamel or acrylic paint. Would red oxide be the best, zinc primer, or another one?
It needs to be carbon steel, because I need it to be ferromagnetic, not stainless steel. Any input is appreciated.
