For some reason I have a negative weight for my assembly in the weight column of the assembly navigator. All the parts have materials assigned and report their weight correctly but the total on the assembly is a negative number.

Hi Bob,

It' not directly an answer of your issue, but I have encountenred the same situation with a single part.

Then I used the following process to correct the part

Export_heal_geometry_h65poe.jpg

I hope this helps

Didier, I don't see your process (box with an "X")?

Hi Bob,

Maybe, you Don't see the image: find attached and the process if File Export Heal Geometry then open the new part.

First check your part using
Analysis -> Examine Geometry -> Select with rectangle around solid body
If any of the Checks within the red rectangle give a positive result your body may not be valid, and needs to be fixed.
I intentionally made my body fail one of Checks below.

It's been a while since I used the advanced weight management but, if I remember correctly, assemblies with promoted bodies can show a negative weight value (and this is normal). Let's say you have a cast part that later gets some faces machined down and holes drilled; you might add the cast part as a component to the machined part and promote the body to add the required features. The component (the cast part) will show the full weight of the casting and the assembly (the machined part) will show a negative weight because material has been removed from the promoted body. When you add the weights together, the final weight of the machined casting is obtained. Does your assembly use promoted bodies (or assembly cut, or assembly level hole series)? If so, you might see some negative values at the assembly level; all of the values in the weight column would need to be added together to get the final assembly weight.
