One (1) new 2000A bus, 1200A VCB, 3P, 3W, 60Hz, 50kA, 2sec vertical feeder section will extend each bus of my existing 4.16kV double ended metal-clad switchgear model PowlVac® manufactured by Powell Industries Inc. to feed the two (2) new 4.16kV, 1200A, 3P, 3W, 60Hz, 50kA, 1sec metal-enclosed motor control center. System grounding on the wye secondary side of upstream transformer feeding the existing 4.16kV switchgear is 400A at 10sec impedance low resistance grounding system.

My question if we can request from another manufacturer/vendor i.e. EATON, GE, Schneider to extend, supply and install the new feeder extension vertical feeder sections of existing switchgear. Or I miss something that will void the UL listing of my existing switchgear, and if there are other factor that will not allow me to ask other vendor except the OEM (Powell Industries Inc.) of my existing switchgear?

I need your expert opinion please. The project will be executed in the middle east.

In a previous life I worked for an OEM Switchgear service center. We did this type of work all of the time.

Years ago we wanted to add a section to a 480 Volt MCC for a small project. The price came it at about $20,000.
The budget wouldn't stretch that far and the project was about to be cancelled.
I went to purchasing and asked them to go for competitive bids from several suppliers and to stress that this would be used as a stand alone installation. We weren't compelled to match the existing gear.
The $20,000 price for replacement parts dropped to about $5000 for a new installation and the project went ahead.
Worth a try, even if you have to fib a little.
