Well I want to use the VBA tools to give it a more straight forward feel. I have used DT's in the past to some very high extents and I want to apply the VBA code to make a programable part. Since there seems to be limitations to using VBA code in Design Tables I will have to approach this from outside of Solidworks and make a completely separate excel table that will program part. This can be accomplished pretty easy through VBA.
I used to have an assembly on my website that you could make a change to the Excel sheet and push a button and the assembly would update. No where in the SW model was there a relationship to an internal/external DT.
It was pretty slick and I think this is going to have to be my choice for the automation I seek.
