Noise reduction in DI piping system

We are currently looking into noise reduction of our DI system. I am not up on all of the details just yet, like level of dBA reduction and the problematic frequencies, but I wanted to get a feel for what options are out there. I attended a noise control engineering training session about a year ago, but that's about all the experience I've had. What are some of the more common applications and solutions?

My apologies... de-ionized water treatment. This is a section of our utilities unit for a chemical plant. Utilities is responsible for water, steam, etc. Our DI system uses five seperate trains, which combine to produce a lot of noise inside the various piping. The building encasing our DI system also houses all of our boiler feedwater pumps, which add to the noise level.
 
what DI production rate and line sizes.

Steam or electric drives on the BFW pumps and what flow/pressures?
 
DI water lines are 6"/8", with various smaller pipes for acid and caustic feeds. The smaller lines of no concern. I'm still working on obtaining some flowrates.
The BFW pumps are electric motor driven and very large. There are six of them in the building. At this time, we're focusing on the DI noise b/c it is a much more piercing frequency.
 

generally you won't have much noise from liqud filled lines. it is the high pressure drop applications and the steam lines that dominate the noise sources.
 
To reduce the noise in your DI is not going to be a cheap fix! We doubled the thickness of the pipe and insulated as well to get away from the screaming frequency, we had moderate success. This is the same approach we used on our natural gas line we went from scheduale 40 to 80 and insulated and it really worked well.
