Hello All,

When purchasing an ASME B 16.5 flange in the SA-105,
what are the different types of non-destructive inspection and
evaluation criteria specified in ASME, except for inspections required by the buyer?
I would appreciate it if you could tell me the ASME code.

Please advise,
Thanks.

JD-JP, you need to tell us the ASME code you're referring to of what you'd like to know the NDE's point of view. Need to know B16.5's point of view on NDE for flanges?
ET is not a free crowd-sourcing place on the interwebs, full of professional consultants, that will solve your problems.
If ASME VIII-1 is you code of construction, you should be able to tell this yourself. If you cant, you're not up for that job.

- You never get what you expect, you only get what you inspect.

The code is ASME VIII-1.
As it says, it is what the standard requires except what the buyer requires.
Did you read it properly?
I am listening after understanding the code.
Standard flanges meeting ASME VIII-1 UG-11 (c) can only be accepted in the
following documents, except in special cases:. (UG-11(c)(10))
・material certificate
・P-T rating
・Basis for the P-T rating
This document is used to test UG-93(b). As you can see, ASME VIII-1 does not explicitly state
non-destructive inspection for standard parts.
You surely know, don't you?

That's why I'm asking.
ASME B16.5 / SA-105 is a product with a lot of stock in the city.
The flange manufacturer should be doing non-destructive inspection according
to the standard code, right? (For example, ASME II-A and ASME B16.5)
In other words, is there a non-destructive inspection that is performed regardless of the buyer's request?

Visual examination.
See ASME II 2021 SA-961 15. Finish and Appearance.

Look at the NDT required in the material spec.
In some there is none.

For SA-105 flanges, in ASME Sec Viii Div 1, there is no explicit requirement for NDE other than thee need to conduct Visual Examination, this requirement comes from UG 93 (d). Flange face finish shall be assessed as per ASME/ANSI B46.1 (This is from B16.5 clause 6.4.5).

In addition to the above some end users may ask for additional NDE such as Ultrasonic Examination, Magnetic Particle Examination or liquid Penetrant Examination.

For some applications like Amine Service especially when ASCC is of concern then user may ask for WFMT.
