Hi All,
Anyone out there know of any criteria for the limiting loads on vessel nozzles which have been glass flake lined? My feeling is the limiting criteria should be shell displacement and not stress limits using say WRC approaches or ASME VIII or EN13445. Any thoughts or advice of where this information is likely to be?

It may be an obvious question, but have you tried asking the manufacturer how they determine nozzle loads for such equipment?

The company I used to work for did a lot of glass-lined work. They would get allowable loads for equipment from the glass-lined equipment manufacturer.

When it came to glass-lined piping, they would run the simulation in Caesar. The failure criteria would be stress-based, but the allowable stress would be significantly reduced from the regular CS pipe. I can't remember the numbers for failure stress, but this may also have come from the glass lined pipe manufacturers.

Ideal situation but the vessels are existing so not a valid way forward!!
