Is anyone using the NVIDIA Quadro FX 600 PCI video card? I have asked purchasing for a NVIDIA Quadro FX 1100 and they are trying to sell me on the FX 600. I know it is not on the SolidWorks approved list. Purchasing has been told it is a great for imaging and scientific applications including geospatial, mapping, GIS, and others that require full OpenGL 3D application performance for expanded screen real estate and resolution.

I would fight for what's on the SolidWorks approved list, nothing else. Print it out and send to purchasing.

Use only what is on the approved list.

All the other Quadro cards use the AGP slot not the PCI slot. THe PCI may make a difference in performance. I'm not a video card expert but I think the AGP slots are faster than the PCI's are. But don't get a card because of the reasons they are giving you. Give them the list and tell them which you you want. If you have to get your VAR involved.

Thanks ctopher,
That is what I will do. I really hate fighting for every little piece of hardware. But, a man’s got to do what a man’s got to do.

Thanks
