Hi guys,

I am using NX 10 and I need to create a top down assembly.
I have created skeleton in my assembly file. (This contains hundreds of connected curves )
What I want is, when I select one curve, I should be able to add parts (beams/extrusions) of the same length as of selected curve.
Each curve is of different length.
Can this be done using Macro/Journal available under tools option.

Thanks,
Vishal

Have you looked at the NX Routing Mechanical application?

Hi John,
I have not looked into NX Routing Mechanical application.
I will have a look and if that do not work, I will come back for alternate solution.

Thanks,

Hi John,

I tried Mechanical Routing, seems pretty good. But I am facing following problems,
1. Actually I want to do a Top Down design of structural building. This consist of plates and columns at diff. angle and diff. location.

2. In Mech_Routing when I place parts, it creates stock not the assembled part. (edited - well somehow looking at standard library components, I think I can bring my parts as fittings rather than stock. But still I will have to figure out.)

3. The placed stock is aligned/placed according to the path. But I want it to constraint with surrounding plates.

I am also not sure if Macros can do this.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
Vishal
