NX 12 Sketch environment

I am a beginner in NX. Am using NX 12. Trying to create a solid model, while i used to Dimension inside the sketch environment am unable to select the edges of the base solid profiles. I just wanted to know how to enable the edges selection inside the sketch environment. Already i have enabled all options like Mid point, End point in selection group, kindly share you comments to enable the edges selection while dimension

Make sure that your selection preferences are okay.

This means, it should not be set to "Within Active Sketch Only"
