I have an assembly and I have started a drawing prt. file and added my assembly to it. Now, I want to only show certain components in views. How can I get only the components I want to show in certain views? Do I have to have them all on seperate layers or is there an easier way? Thank you.

The easiest way is with 'Hide/show components in view', found on the Assemblies -> context control menu (at least that's where it is in NX6).

Yes, you can also use layers and visible in view but it can be more complicated and future users (yourself included) may have a difficult time figuring out what you did and why.

On the 'Drafting Edit' toolbar there are a pair of icons which allows you to control the visibility of Components on a per Drawing view basis. The icon you're looking for is the one with the red arrow...

Just select the icon and then select the Component(s) of interest in any view that's convenient, or from the Assembly Navigator if that works better, and then select the view(s) which you would like the Components to be visually removed from. Then hit OK and you should be good to go (note that you will also need to update the display of the Drawing views which you've removed Components from).

Yes, I would load the latest MR (NX 7.5.2.5) and if the problem is still manifesting itself, I would immediately contact GTAC and have them take a look at it.

I did a part clean up and it fixed the error message. Now, back to this Hide Component in View operation. I placed a view and have only the components shown that I want shown, however when placing another view and making other components visible or nonvisible they show up in the first view the same way regardless of whether I chose that specific view in the menu. Cant you have several views on one sheet of different components?

lol....I got it guys, I was unchecking them from assembly navigator rather than highlighting them. Works great, thank you!
