In case you had not yet heard, NX 7.5 is available for download from the GTAC website. Of course you will need a new updated license 'sheet' before you can actually run the software, however if your maintenance is up-to-date you can request one from your CSR (Customer Service Representative) at Siemens or from the distributor where you get your support.

Hi John, is a DVD-set sent to every up-to-date-license automatically?
When can we expect it? Also for CAMEXPRESS users?

Greetings, Bert

I'm not sure what our policy is now with respect to automatically sending out DVD's, but I'll check it out and get back to you.

OK, a couple of things. To start with, we now email, to the addresses which we have in our records, the license sheet files automatically so there is no longer any need to make a request (BTW, the NX 7.5 sheets have already been mailed). As for physical media (DVD's), they will only be mailed to customers who are paying for the so-called 'subscription' service (this includes both the software and the documentation DVD's). CAM Express however is different in that the DVD's will be mailed to ALL CAM Express customers (if you also have NX and are paying the subscription, they will both come in the same box, otherwise you will only get the CAM Express DVD). These physical shipments will begin starting next week.

Anyone not on the subscription service will have to download both the software and documentation from the GTAC download site (or get it from your distributor if you've worked out a different deal with them).

Anyway, that's where it stands at the moment.

Hi John,
I listen that NX7.5 permit to modify the hole type, but in the what's new it's not mentioned.
Are you in planning to add this opportunity in the next QRM ?

The same on sheet metal flange, that after selected the width option and created it, the option is grayed.
I need to edit the sketch.
Planning for this ?

Regards..

No, that is NOT true. However, there is a project to offer this in NX 8.0 (in fact, I just got the notice to review the functional spec for the project).

As for your Sheet metal question, I'm not sure what you mean. When you edit a Flange, you have the option to edit the sketch.

Hi John,
what is the scope of NX7.5 ?
NX7 is fresh...NX8 is on developing.
NX7.5 is not a NX7 patch, then ?
This intermediate release is focused for ?

Thank you...

NX 7.5 IS NOT AN INTERMEDIATE RELEASE!!!

It's a full release, containing a significantly higher number of enhancements and new capabilities than did NX 7.0 (the reality is that NX 7.5 is perhaps the 'largest' NX/UG release ever in terms of R&D effort expended). The confusing numbering scheme was the result of an executive-level decision mandated by a non-technical situation.

If anything, NX 7.0 is more like an 'intermediate' release being that it was released on Windows only while both NX 6.0 and NX 7.5 are avialable on ALL currently supported platforms; Windows(32-bit), Windows(64-bit), Linux(64-bit) and MacOS.

And as for 'scope', the projects and enhancements cover virtually all applications areas and modules of NX.

Thank you John,
as you have mentioned, the number release make confusion, but reading the what's new, I confirm lot of enhancement.

I would like NX7.5, but we have just installed NX7.

Regards....

Would Siemens have a problem with someone posting the "what's new" pdf? Our company just dropped maintenance because of "cash flow issues". If I could bring some of the key enhancements to their attention it would help bolster an already well made case for resuming it.
Thanks

If your webkey is still valid, the NX 7.5 'What's New' guide (in PDF format) is now available for download from the 'Documentation' location on the GTAC support site. However, it would be difficult to post it here as the PDF file is over 11 MB, which I suspect exceeds that limitations of the Eng-Tips 'attachment' utility.

I've heard Chrysler is going to NX now.

Is that true?

If so good job on that and I hope that just means NX is just going to continue to blow away the competition!

I am wondering if I attend a training class for 7.5 if it will be beneficial for me if my company uses 7.0? I am looking to attend the Essentials for Designers training in the next 6 weeks or so, and the class that best fits my schedule is for version 7.5. I just want to check to see if it is going to be very different from the 7.0 class. If necessary I can hold off until I find a 7.0 class that fits in my schedule.

Thanks for your input.

Deborah

As long as you realize that a few of the items covered will be based on NX 7.5 additions or updates, I would expect that close to 90% of an NX 7.5 'Essentials' class is going to be the same as it was for NX 7.0. After all, 'Essentials' is just what it means, the basics, and while there are significant changes in NX 7.5, the basics are pretty much the same, with the possible exception being the Sketcher since we did put a lot of effort into that for NX 7.5 and the differences are very apparent. This includes 'Auto Dimensioning', Patterning, completely new capabilities when performing a 'Copy & Paste' of a Sketch or objects from a Sketch, etc.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents on tht topic ;-)

"... NX 7.5 is available for download from the GTAC website. Of course you will need a new updated license 'sheet' before you can actually run the software.."

Please explain what this mean ! Can I download the NX on my computer and what is the price for software and/or license ?
Also what are the minimum hardware recomandation for NX7.5 ?
Thanks

Well, if you are already a customer with a signed license agreement and your maintenance if paid up-to-date, than you will have already been mailed a new NX 7.5 license sheet and you will also already have a 'Sold-To' ID which would allow you to get a webkey and password from GTAC. Once you have all of these things, and yes YOU DO HAVE TO PAY FOR THEM, you will be able to download, install and run NX 7.5.

Now if you are NOT a current customer of Siemens PLM Software, may I suggest that you go to...

...where you can find where you can call to get more information from either a Siemens PLM Software representative or if you're located in a region where we sell our products through distributors, you can follow-up with one of them. To help direct you to where you can learn more, first select the 'Siemens PLM Software' link at the left side of the page under the main advert image and select your country. Then select the 'Contact' link in the center of the page for information about how to contact our locals offices.

Good luck and I hope we can help you.
