Does anyone know if there are expressions connected with the NX11 bounding body feature and if they are accessible? I thought there was something on this forum about this subject but am unable to find anything.

If you build a bounding body around a selected object, the only user editable expression created is for the "offset" value. If you need to know the size of the resulting box, one option would be to create distance measurements between the opposing sides.

That's the process I was thinking would be needed to know the size of the bounding object in expressions, just checking to make sure there wasn't a built in solution. Thanks for the quick reply.

I seem to remember that there was an information selection available which reported the bounding box size without the need to actually create one.
Would have to search for it though

If you use Teamcenter, the bounding box size is noted there.
But, it's the bounding box in X,Y,Z, not the optimized minimal box.
( I do not think that NX has a function to find the optimized box, - Or ? maybe Moldwizard ?)
Select the Model in Teamcenter,- Named References- the "ugpart-bbox" contains the XYZ data.

Thanks Toost, but we don't use teamcenter. NutAce, I actually wrote a grip routine creating datum planes based on the UG restrictions created for the collider they were building in Texas (10000 unit limit lol). Measuring is always done based on the current wcs. I'm thinking of creating a journal to automate measuring the distance of opposite faces and then creating expressions based on that.
