NX1982 - View Orientation Includes WCS?

When you hit END on the keyboard, it orients the view to the ISO view orientation. Only now when we do that, it focuses on either the WCS or the Absolute Zero point. Not the parts you have loaded.

It seems in the past, it would orient the view but focus on the parts. Letting the WCS go out of the view window. Now it moves the parts out of the window and focuses on the WCS.

This is annoying for our company because the zero point of GM products is a little below the vehicle and well out in front of the vehicle. So every time I hit END on the keyboard, when it is done orienting the view to ISO, we then have to hit fit to bring our product back into view.

My guess is there might be a setting to change this in Customer Defaults. If so, does anyone know where?

The "exclude datums from fit" option might help you. It can be found in preferences -> visualization -> view -> interaction -> fitting. I could not find this in the customer defaults, so it is probably a part setting.

Unfortunately this didnt do it. The problem is not with FIT, but with when you reorient a view or replace a view. Upon opening a view in Modeling, it seems to focus on the WCS or Absolute Zero. Not sure which as I have never tested it.

Thanks for looking though. I do appreciate that. :)

Does this happen in all your parts or is it only files from GM ?
Can you share an example part where this happens ? ( crete a block or cylinder or similar )

try this:
Right click in the graphics - Orient View- Custom views..
Then in the botttom of that dialog, select current or fit but not saved.
then click one of the icons in the top of that dialog ( tfr-tri or iso or.)

close that dialog then try "END". Does it not

Seems to me the "dialog memory" might be involved in this.

Are you working with an assembly? If so, try out the different load options (minimal, partial, full) to see if it affects the view fit behavior. The "minimal" option is new, I suspect it may have a few bugs.

Toost seems to have the answer here. When I opened custom views it was set to saved. I switched it to fit and that did the job. Thanks.

Thanks for your time as well Cowski

Now we have the fix, but it makes me wonder how this came about. I created a new file and hit END, and it worked fine. I talked to others and they have not had this problem. Is it possible that one particular person might have a setting wrong in their NX and when they create new parts it is making them with this setting?

My goal now is to figure out why this was like that so it doesnt keep happening.
