this is more annoying than anything. ok i open a part last used in nx5 into nx7.5 make changes to the sketch now the new dimensions text height in sketcher is much bigger then existing. it looks like for whatever reason the new dimension height is being controlled by drafting annotation styles and not the sketcher preferences.

You probably want to see what is set in your "customer defaults"
File -> utilities -> customer defaults -> sketch -> general -> sketch style (tab)

This was covered in the NX 6.0 'What's New' document:

---------------------------------------------------------
Sketch Style, Parameters, and Preferences Changes
---------------------------------------------------------

What is it? The Sketch task environment has the following new and modified dialog boxes:

Annotation Style Sketcher now uses the same Annotation Style dialog box as Drafting for formatting individual dimensions.

Sketch Parameters This new dialog box gives you easy access to all the dimensions in the current sketch. Edit a dimension by typing in a value or moving a slider.

Sketch Style This new dialog box lets you control settings for the active sketch, including the display of sketch dimension labels, as well as settings for inferred constraints, fixed text height, and object color display.

Sketch Preferences The Sketch Preferences dialog box now controls style settings for future sketches, as well as settings for the current NX session and the current part. To change style settings for the active sketch, use the new Sketch Style dialog box.

went from nx 5 to nx 7.5 and skipped nx 6 anyway my current nx 7.5 sketcher and drafting preferences have different text heights and work just fine. the annoying part is opening an old UG part file and having to adjust sketcher preference to match the older sketcher preferences, then after finished with sketcher change the drafting annotation preference in order match older drafting preference to update the drawing. i was hoping to find a way nx 7.5 would inherit ALL of nx 5 sketcher preferences. OK thanks for the help.

If you use the Master Model appoach (and you're not doing a lot of 'sketching' while working in the Drawing), could have one set of defaults for when creating Sketches in your part Models and another set of defaults for the annotation on your Drawings.
