Hi everyone!

I updated from NX6 to NX7.5 few days ago. And I found out that when I substract linked bodies to my model something curious happens, my model becomes multicoloured.

I have my model (green) and I add a component (gray) then I use WAVE geometry linker to make a Linked body, then I substract that linked body to my model and here my model becomes 2 colored. And when I was using NX6 this never happened.

Is there any way to prevent this from happen?

I uploaded and image of what happens in my model

I can't upload the image as it appears to have an invalid character in the file name.

That being said, have you looked at the settings in...

Preferencese -> Modeling -> General

...and check the options selected for 'Display Properties for New Geometry'? See if these have been changed from what you had set in NX 6.0.

Check the setting in Preferences -> Modeling -> General : Boolean Face Properties from. You have the option to take the face display setting from the target or tool body. If you change the setting here it will affect only the current file, to also change it for new files you will have to change it in the customer defaults and possibly any template files you use.

Ok, I checked the modeling preferences and these are selected as the following:

New Face Properties from: Parent body
Boolean Face Properties from: Target body
Extracted and Linked Geometry from: Parent Object

And these are exactly the same as in NX6

Thanks, but the problem wasn't about these modeling preferences.

Any other ideas?

It is a longshot, but it is possible that the solid body and the faces have been assigned different colors. Go to Information -> object and filter for solid bodies, pick your 'green' solid body and see what color is reported. If it reports 'green', then the problem lies elsewhere.

Well the color of my model is actually "strong olive" and, cowski, I did what you said and it reports "strong olive".

For now I'm doing an <Edit object display> with the "apply to all faces of selected body" option checked. Because if it is not checked, the change is not applied.

This is working for me, but still, is a little bothering to do this over an over again.

If you have any other idea, please let me know

Thanks in advance

Make sure the CDF (Color Definition File) is the same on both components. I have had it where they were different and then the subtraction is showing the colors of the tool of the component with a different cdf.

Between that and the preferences listed above....it should work.
