This is the message I get.
"NX license error NX requires the enviroment variable UGS_LICENSE_SERVER to be confiqured properly. It can either be set to the value port@hostname of theNX license server or it can be set to point directly to a license file
by default it wll be of the form 28000@servername."

I was on the phone with GTAC for over 2 hours. Im beyond fustrated. They couldn't help me. Why am I paying over $2K for my license matainenance and GTAC support.

I had NX5 working on my computer with no issues at all.
I installed version NX7 and now they both don't work.

Is there anyone here that can help me.

friend !!!!!!

nx uninstall 7 and install new software but only nx not flex
the flex of NX7 bad and this will change the license to run both software seamlessly
nx5 keep the flex of the same gate to 28,000
already gone through this and I did so and it worked

Does your UGS_LICENSE_SERVER environment variable exist, and if so, what value does it have?

If you are on a windows machine you can check by going into the control panel -> System -> Advanced tab -> Environment variables button.

You do NOT need to uninstall NX 7.0. Just install the latest License Server software using a new up-to-date license file for NX 7.0.

John,
I already did install the new License software. Thats what the problem is I think.
Nx5 was working fine. I downloaded the nx7 software and the license. Now i get the error message and now it doesn't work on my machine.
I went to lmtools and its pointing to the right nx7 lic file. I go to license option and my bundle is not there.

Im going to try and call GTAC again and get somebody else i hope. Its ridiculous they can't tell me how to fix it.

friend I do not want to talk but the bad flex NX7 this does not work
for being party use of Macrovision as I told you keep the flex of nx5
change the license and install NX7

GTAC not solve anything at least here in Brazil and poor support

You're probably correct, for NX 7.0. However, you will definitely NEED to reinstall from scratch the license server software before you will be able to run NX 7.5.

let me try and understand.

you installed the NX7 licensing without uninstalling the NX5 one first?

If that's the case then what you now have is a corrupted FlexLM install.

You need to uninstall the NX licensing installs via the Add/Remove Programs. Also make sure the NX licensing services are disabled from running as well. (Windows Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services).

Delete the FlexLM install folders. (eg C:\program files\UGS\UGS Licensing). Reboot the system.

Then in your NX7 install there will be a UGFLEXLM folder. Run the lmtools.exe in that folder and you can create a new licensing service on the "Config Services" tab.

In the "service name" field type in a name for the new license service.
Point the lmrgd to the one in the NX& UGFLEXLM folder.
Point to the NX7 license file.
Point the log to a txt file in the same folder.

Make sure you save the service with user services & start server at powerup turned on.

This should then create a new service which you can then start & check that it is working by looking at the log file from the config services page.

namdaci45,

Your recommendation worked?
I got rid of the Licensing and made a new service.
It worked but is this the way I should run my NX7?

if it works, leave it as it is. All you have done is manually created a license service rather than having it created automatically by the install.

I have done with this before with my customers & it works just fine.
If you ever reinstall the whole system (operating system) then you just use the NX7 license install to create your licensing service for NX5, NX6 & NX7.
