NX8.5 - Sketch Question

Greetings,

I am sketching to create bodies, and the sketches are disappearing after the extrude command. Although I like this feature, I've not ever experienced it. The sketch does not show up in the Model History tree either. Is this a feature that can turn on or off?

Right click on the EXTRUDE in the model tree and toggle on MAKE SKETCH EXTERNAL.
I like this feature too, but I make the sketch external if that is the best way to go.
