ODB Mirror/Pattern of one part but not another

Greetings,

I am modeling a half of an embankment (taking advantage of symmetry) with an embedded reinforcement. I was curious to see if it is possible to use the "Mirror/Pattern" ODB display option on one part (the embedded reinforcement) and not the other (the embankment) as to view relevant stress/displacement data on both entities at once. Any idea how to do this?

Thanks so much in advance!

I think you will have to simulate the entire structure and then hide half the embankment. You can also probably do it with power point by laying 1 image on the other setting the transparent color. For this I suggest saving your view so that they match up. I hope this helps.

Thanks so much for responding, Rob! I appreciate your time.

I am using lots of elements as it is, and on my server the analysis takes 21 hours! The idea of doubling the embankment size is logical and straightforward, but simply computationally expensive.

By "power point", did you mean Microsoft powerpoint? I like the idea, but I have to do a variety of plots this way which could become cumbersome. Might be necessary though.

Are there any other alternatives?

Thanks again in advance.

Good advice, Rob.

Even though it doubles the computation time, I mirrored the full embankment with a different material name (same soil properties as the other side though) so I could remove the material when in the visualization module. That allows for display of the reinforcement, but not the surrounding soil on the half of the model.

You would think that you would be able to do it in CAE (with local coordinate systems assigned to each part, etc.). Whatever works though.

Anyways, I appreciate the help!
