Hi,

I'm trying to do a structural analysis of a guyed tubular tower in ANSYS. The tubes are modelled using Pipe16 elements and the guy-wires are modelled using Link10 elements with the Long & perp motn and the Tension only options enabled.

I have tried to solve the problem using both large and small displacement analysis and only the small displacement analysis yields a converged solution. However, when I plot the deformations some of the guy-wires behave very odd (see attached picture) and no stress results exist.

Does anybody know why the guy-wires behave like this and why no stress results are written?

Thanks.

Dear
This could be caused by the link elements.
Try using 1 element in the cable. The link10 elements in this case are very flexible. Also use a initial strain in the link10 real. constant, this will also make you analyse more stable.

Thank you ansysfreak. The guy-wires were modelled with several elements. Now they consist of only one element each, and everything works just fine.
