Offset in Face 1

I am using Offset in Face in NX7.5 and I noticed that Geodesic is now included in the list of choices for the Offset Method. Can someone explain to me how the Geodesic offset is calculated versus the Arc Length method. I have read the help files and the explainations are not the clearest (to me at least).

It is located under the Direction and Method section of the Offset Curve in Face operator. I apologize if the original thread was unclear. Hopefully this helps to clarify my question.

I was having trouble comming up with the words for a clear definition of the Offset Methods, so I made a visual aid. Please see PDF linked below for my understanding of their function.
