I'm working on a project where the owner/developer wants to use the Barrette open joist triforce wood trusses: In concept, the triforce trusses are intriguing because one end has a solid OSB section (like a wood I-joist), enabling the framers to field trim as necessary. Also, the web to chord connections are finger-jointed and glued.
I've worked with metal plate connected trusses before on mixed-use multi-story wood jobs where the trusses were delegated design. However, I'm approaching the triforce system as I would a wood I-joist system.
Has anyone used this or similar joists before? Anything I should watch out for when designing this system?
