Orbital Welding

Under ASME Sec IX, GTAW Automatic welding process. How would
you qualifie a welder. Would it be a machine qualification
or welder operator qualification. GTAW QW 256 only list filler material requirements for welding variables, if you are orbital welding (autogenous, with out filler)how do you determine qualification requirements. how many coupons and what size.

I have the welder weld the test samples using the equipment used for production. The number of samples is dependent on the diameter of the samples.
