Hello lcms,

Happy New Year...
I was searching the web for some oxygen scavengers when I saw your discussion here with others in 2007.
I am not a chemist, but in a research project I need an effective oxygen scavenger that does not prevent polymerization. so my question is have you found a chemical that works after all those discussions with other fellows back in 2007?
any help on this issue will be much appreciated
thnx
Maset

Hello MASET:

Well, I was working in a plant that recovers butadiene from the reactor system and before use it in the reactor again, is decanted in a tank in order to eliminate water mainly.

Of course, the "recipe" allows only a few part of recycled butadiene due to quality problems in the final products (coagulum, bigger particle size, etc.)

We need to remember that this recycled butadiene don´t have inhibitor and can form peroxides or popcorn in the storage tank and is important control the temperature or if the residence time is increasing, is better to send to the flare.

I don´t know about "oxygen scavenger system" but I think the adsorption system (with AlOx) could help, but again, we must don´t forget this recycled butadiene doesn´t have inhibitor.

Regards.
