with the 6 inch NPS SCH 160 (18.26 mm in wall thickness) ASTM A106 Grade B pipe example, to ASME B31.3, following the Paragraph 323.2.2 (b) and then referring to table A-1 this material is curve B, go into Fig. 323.2.2A, please correct for my understand under the as following cases:
#1: if the minimum design temperature is -20 degree C, so a design minimum temperature & thickness combination is below the Curve B, it seems that impact testing of base metal would be required.
#2: if the minimum design temperature is -5 degree C, so a design minimum temperature & thickness combination is above the Curve B, it seems that impact testing of base metal is not required.

thank nickelkid so much, just one clarification more, if minimum design temperature is -30 degree C, obviously the impact test of base metal is required but how about impact requirement of weld metal when i fabricate this pipe?

The same question with regarding to #1 about impact requirement of weld metal?
