parapet/railing detail

My client wants a railing on his ICF residential parapet.
He has also asked for large planters, at other spots.
(My initial preference was for a masonry cap)
Maybe posts anchored in the concrete, that could support 1. a railing 2. modify to support the (heavy) planters?
But detailing this w/ either a metal coping, or a masonry cap? that allows runoff? a deep, single post be sufficient to support large planters?
Any ideas? this is not my expertise. I'm scratching my head

Scarce thing to do if the client demands so; hence just provide posts and connections able to cope with everything at hand; if you don't know how big the planters, imagine them bigger than he imagines (if such thing is possible, there are very imaginative people).

Which ICF product is being used? If it has a solid concrete center,I would be OK with this. If this is the type of ICF that uses a grid of concrete cores (horizontal and vertical) then be careful.

Embed the posts, then anchor in a pre-cast on top w/ sealed sleeves?
I've never detailed/noted something like this.
depth? diameter? sealant?
any ideas welcome!!!

You/he needs a structural engineer with some experience in this area. Though handrails look like an afterthought, if done properly to code specs they can be a bear, usually at the connection.

You can inset a 2x dimensioned ledger into the ICF wall and secure it to the cores with horizontal anchor rods and secure the guard rail to this ledger using cant 'pickets'.

Alternatively, you can cast the metal anchorage as plates with an end cap into the ICF wall and secure a metal railing to this.

I've used both and they work well.
