I really doubt a drive partition is causing your problem. We image all of our machines with a single drive partitioned into 2 drive letters.

What is the nature of your problem?

Best guess if possible is to test by working off your C: drive to begin with. If NX is installed to the same partition then you will have almost certainly ruled out that suspicion if the error still occurs. In the unlikely event that you do get a change then the likelihood only increases that the only people who'll be able to help are GTAC via your local support network.

when I try to run flow advanced solver, I get this error messenge:

"flow_dp.exe has encountered a problem and must close".

Keep the syslog file you may need to send it to GTAC so that they can help you solve this.

Sounds like you are out of memory.

What are your system specs and software version?

Hardware:

AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core 4200 +
2 GB RAM
Video Card: GeForce 9500
Hard Drive 160 GB (The hard drive is partitioned 100 GB on drive C, where NX is installed)

Operating system:

Windows XP SP2

Richard,
There could be a lot of reasons, whit solver doesn't work. First of all check your virtual memory. It must be not less than 4GB. as loosib said you might be out of memory.
The second one, try to reinstall the whole application if possible.
3rd. Maybe, that some AV software just cloes the processes of solver due to "suspicious actions" of the process.
And the last one. Check your license or/and FlexML server if it works ok.

Your hardware is ok, so everything should work correctly.

I suspect that if you're running XP/32Bit then double your RAM to 4Gb on board. And if you're running under 64Bit then at least double it.

You might want follow the suggestions I offered earlier that you gather the syslogs adn contact GTAC. But if others are suggesting memory is a likely culprit then it may pay you in terms of lost productivity to look into addressing this apparent memory deficit at the same time.

GeForce graphics cards are not supported by NX.

Since the analysis code is purchaed, they could be doing a graphics card check and causing the code to abort due to an unrecognized card.

Looslib,

That may officially be the case but they work just fine for most applications. I'm not aware of what their deficiencies are if any, but on performance clearly they are suitable at the lower end. The advice I would give for people looking to save money is that in purpose built systems you are taking a calculated risk that can best be managed if your dealer is willing to allow you to test a few options when you system is being built.

We have used several lower priced such cards for NX and other CAD for some time with few if any problems in less demanding roles. Certainly for the heavier lifting and where users are reporting graphics bottle necks I'm advising otherwise because there is that clear need. As an experienced user willing to take steps to save money I am occasionally driven to go with a more cost effective approach.

No question that the GeForce cards will work within certain limitations. I have an ATI Radeon card in my home computer and I got better resolution on it than I did on my QuadroFX certified card at work on a very small part.

looslib,

This is where you do need to check since we have tried several cards over the years and found more problems with display regeneration on some of the ATI cards than anything else. Obviously being optimised for gaming and workstation graphics are two different things and it makes the point that taking a risk to save cash comes with a potential downside.

I understood that it is better to use ATI graphic card, but the same application works fine on another computer with a graphics card NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 (256MB). I do not understand my video card is NVIDIA GeForce FX 9500 GT (512 MB)

Thanks.

Richard.

GeForce cards are not certified.
The Nvidia QuadroFX line is typically better than ATI cards.
Try a Quadro FX1700 card and see what happens.
