Passing of a friend and member of this Forum 1

I'm not sure if members of this forum have heard, but Don Day (Prof Don) passed away last month after a lengthy fight with brain cancer.
Don was a friend and mentor to me for the last 15 years. He provided the first useful training in GD&T that I received, and was a resource to me and many on this forum via his collection of Tec-Ease Tip-Of-The-Month, often cited on this forum.

Don had a passion for engineering and for GD&T in particular, and the training materials and tips will serve well as his legacy in this industry sector. Think of him each time you reference the tips, he'd like that.

It's a shame that they don't mention his death on their website. I am sad to hear of his death and disappointed at the same time...

Don was the one that introduced me to GD&T and made me love it. He sure will be missed. RIP Prof Don.

Dave should be in his early 70's, so probably he is enjoying the retirement (it is not much fan "fighting" for the right GD&T and try to teach "dinosaurs" running the QE departments )

David E. DeLong, CET, is one of the few people certified as a ASME GD&T Professional in both levels - Technologist and Senior through the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) ............................

David E. DeLong, CET/CQE started out in industry in the mid 1960's...................................

He eventually left GM in the early 1970s and started his own measuring business ...................................

From the mid 1970's to mid 1980's, David was in Quality Management in automotive related plants...................

David started presenting seminars in 1986 beginning with the topic SPC. Since that time, he has trained in a variety of quality related subjects to over 5000 participants but now only presents Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD & T) which was originally developed in 1988 .

Since 2007, David has been presenting GD&T LIVE online so that anyone, anywhere, can take this seminar as long has you have a high speed Internet connection and a computer headset with microphone and now web cam. Press here to review the online method.

Thank you for the reminder. He is a certified engineering technologist. I just checked on OACETT's website. There is a David E. De[ ]Long (note the space) listed on there. This is good.

Although I didn't speak with Prof Don directly, I really got valuable GD&T Knowledge both in principle and practice from his tips. Don will be missed.

I haven't heard from Dave since I left S.Ont 5 years ago. I know he'd been talking about retirement for a long while before that. He was quite hale & hearty last time I saw him, and he left our coffee-shop meeting to go roller blading with his wife.
