Having a little trouble rolling back files to old revisions. Not sure why. I have done it in the past but the option is now grayed out.

I have run the Vault Admin tool and confirmed that the Administrator has the right to do a rollback.

Any help is appreciated.

Did you have the user release ownership, login as Admin, take ownership and try the rollback?

Are you using the “Task Pane” PDM to roll back or the “SolidWorks Explorer” under Tools? Try using the “Task Pane” PDM to roll back your drawings and models. The “Task Pane” and the “SolidWorks Explorer” do not talk to each other if at all.

Thanks but I think I found the error of my ways. The user had checked the document in many times on the default "working copy" but never really released it. So there was no line in the sand to roll back to. Thanks

winpop123,
Turn off that "working copy" in PDM. That "working copy" has cause us more trouble in lost work than it ever saved us in hard drive space.

I have always used "working copy", but with backups made on the server with every save.
If you don't use the backup option in SW, I agree the working copy can hurt.

Bradley,

Do you make up a bogus revision scheme that only the designers see and then role to next secondary revision when you are really ready to release?

winpop123,
I am not sure why you were asking the question. We do not use a bogus revision scheme. We do not copy project either. When we build something similar we use “Save As” on the assembly then start changing the parts as needed. We are not a production house.

This is how we do revision control:
A01-01 thru A99-99 for not controlled by documentation group.
P01-01 thru P99-99 for Prototype control.
R01-01 thru R99-99 for released.

Thanks - The "not controlled by documentation group" is what I equate with "bogus revision scheme".

Thanks

Sounds about right
